RNSC July 24hr Charity Event

Portsmouth - 07 Dec 15 Dinghies

Initial call for interest for the 2016 event

After the huge success of this year’s 2015 sail, I am desperate to get off the floor running with next year’s attempt. We have a lot to do to beat the hard work of 2015’s team but I really want to crack the £2000 mark next year.

So what’s the new ideas?

I am yet to hear back from the ARMY and RAF (Probably both scared they couldn’t beat us!!!!), however I would really like to hold more of a race in 2016 almost team racing I suppose but ultimately just which teams 2 boats can sail the furthest.

Again we will be looking at a 1NM Course (it’s easy to work out distances that way).
An entrance fee per crew or minimum sponsorship per crew (Neil Williams really showed us this can work in 2015 gaining £100’s in sponsorship before and after the sail.)
A bigger push from everyone on the Virgin money giving site.
Outside sponsorship if possible (I will be looking to get some support for a few prizes)
If we don’t get a take up from the other services we will be looking for 3 boats to race.

So here’s some basic info and ideas for what can you do now.

1. I will open a new Virgin money site in Jan which will give people the chance to start early getting the money flowing. Those that kindly donated last year will be more aware of the event and hopefully can help to involve more in giving to such a great cause.

2. Rules and more information will be emailed at the end of Jan.

3. You can contact me now to book your place in the event as a sailor, again I know those that took part last year have all been telling others how much fun it was!! Remember you don’t need to be qualified to sail just join up with someone that can, hell after that amount of time afloat you probably will be able too!!

4. We need support!! Can you help? The guys helping in 2015 will tell you it was hard on us, I managed approx 3 hrs sleep in 36hrs so if you would like to be part of the support crew please email me (Obviously it’s sailors we really need so go for that first if you can.)

5. Think about some sponsorship. Do you know someone or a company in the industry? Please feel free to mention to them the idea and sound out any support they might be able to supply and give me a yell.

MOST IMPORTANTLY THOUGH PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH YOUR SUPPORT ASAP SO I CAN PLAN THE NEXT EMAIL ARMED WITH SOME IDEA OF NUMBERS.

In the meantime though get afloat and out of the office, the centres open we have some demo boats in from Topper with Laser, RS and Hartley boats due in soon.

Once again thank you for your continued support and I will see you afloat.
